June mashup

We had a lot of fun in June.  We rode our bikes all over the place, only crying on a few of the longer trips :-)
Sunshine was in love with the idea of building a float for the Lehi parade.  He checked on it every day and loved to watch the neighbors work.
Yeah... no explanation needed.
Thunder's Aunt and Uncle happened to be in the area and stopped by for a short visit.  It was so nice to see family!
Sunshine had a close encounter with some scissors... a haircut soon followed.
I attended several music workshops put on by the Soundcheck Series here in Utah.  They were very motivating and inspiring and brought in successful artists and producers to talk about what they do.
And we're back where we started, on the bikes!  We love the skate part about 3 miles away.

Camp Invention

When my Aunt Becky came to visit earlier in the year, she highly recommended that the kids start attending some science summer camps.  The top of her list? Camp Invention.  It was a week-long day camp where they studied how things work and made their own inventions.  Cloudburst and Sunshine both got to attend and had a great time. I loved seeing them so excited about science and combining creativity along with science.

Youth Conference

Since Thunder is Bishop, he gets to go with the youth on some adventurous trips.  He got to go repelling and had a great time hiking, playing volleyball, playing pranks on the leaders and getting to know the youth better.

Father's Day

Thunder is an awesome Dad, so we wanted to do something really special for him for Father's Day.  When I saw a special collaboration between Miller Motor Park and Clark Planetarium I knew he would have fun.  We got to go together as a family.  When we checked in, we got a passport for several activities. Thunder got a special ticket to ride in a professional race car at speeds of 130 mph+.  It was fun just to watch him and he said it was awesome.
Thunder also got to ride in an off-road truck.  It reminded us of Moab.
Miller Motor Park is actually really big, so we took a tram to the different sections.
While Thunder waited in line to go on the Go-Karts, the kids and I took the tram to watch a rocket demonstration.  They were in awe! They got to chase some down and bring them back.
We ended the day on the zip line.  What a rush!

Teamsters

Right when school ends in May, we start the busy sports season.  It seems to get crazier every year as our kids get older and more enter the team phase of life.  Cloudburst played softball again this year.  Her age group finally got to pitch and it was fun to see them make the tournament at the end of the season.

Sunrise was a great fan for everyone's games.  It got pretty hot out there.

Sunshine really enjoyed coach pitch baseball.  He is really level headed during games and had a great year.

Sunshine also played spring soccer and had a great time.

Our ward organized a 5k race and we got a family ticket.  The first complete family to cross the finish got a prize, so we really tried.  Even 5-year-old Tornado ran the whole way.  But wouldn't ya know, the family with two former college runners won the prize.

Neptune park

We took a trip to Neptune Park and had a blast.  It's such a fun park for bigger kids (and little kids too).
