Family visit

The day after Independence Day my dad was able to come visit.  Sunshine was talking to him on the phone a month ago and asked Grandpa about making a teepee, and Grandpa found a flight to come make it happen!

Now, this is a very flattering picture.

After a short nap, the kids had fun wrestling around in the pool.  Cloudburst was nice enough to allow Grandpa to give her a surprise piggyback.

Then it was time to build the teepee!  We got some 1" tubes, duct tape, 9' muslin fabric, velcro straps and some fabric markers.  We measured and cut the sides and then I sewed them together.  We got the poles in the right spots, taped the top and placed the fabric on the poles using the velcro.  Then it was time to decorate!

Each child got their own side to paint.

Sunrise enjoyed the markers a bit more than everyone else.

Then 2 days later, Uncle Harry arrived (nobody even remembers when he got that nickname).  We had been looking forward to running together for months, and so I still ran even though maybe I shouldn't have due to my finger.  I had gone in the day before to visit a hand surgeon (because I couldn't bend my pinky finger) and I left with it wrapped up like I broke my wrist.

We went down to Yuba lake and was amazed that the beach was gone!  The spot we camped at last summer was under 6 feet of water.  We still had fun.  Grandpa and I stayed on the sidelines and everyone else enjoyed the water toys.

Then by the end of the weekend they had both gone home.  It was a short but sweet trip!
