The Grand Marshall was none other than Mr. Lightning McQueen, fresh off of his Cars 2 movie tour.
After the parade, we gathered in a pavilion for breakfast, games and entertainment. Cloudburst sang "Grand Ol' Flag."
Sunrise enjoyed sampling the bikes of everyone else who brought them to the pavilion.
Sunshine was pretty tough about his sparkly star.
The kids loved all the fun games and ran around trying to collect prizes at every one.
I sang "Independence Day" by Martina McBride. It's actually not really a patriotic song, but it's a fun one.
Sunshine and Tornado performed a rap version of "Give Said the Little Stream." Yes, I said rap.
On Monday the 4th, we prepared for a big BBQ with friends and neighbors on our block. We had tons of meat to prepare, and I did cut my finger while separating some frozen spare ribs (picture last).
We set up 1...
...2....
...3 pools. We got everything ready and in the afternoon neighbors began arriving with yummy food to share!
Here is Thunder's grilling station. He would grill for 10 minutes, get hot, jump in a pool, and come back.
Mmmmm everything was so good.
Here is another view of the crazy fun!
After dinner we set up for fireworks. This year ariel fireworks became legal and they were awesome!
Thunder loved his blowtorch- no more dinky lighters for this professional.
Oh man, look at my hair that's actually done and not in a pony tail (see finger picture below).

Ah, the finger picture. The cut looks pretty small doesn't it? Well a couple days later I discovered I couldn't bend it at my last knuckle. It was the weirdest feeling, trying to move it, and nothing would happen except lightning bolts of pain. After a visit to a hand surgeon, I found out I cut the TENDON! More later...
